Housekeeping Attendant

Nestled in the serene countryside, Vermitas offers a unique blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. Set on a working rubber plantation, our farm retreat is committed to environmental stewardship,  and provides guests with an immersive experience of sustainable farm life, complete with comfortable accommodation, farm-to-table dining, and a charming natural environment. We are seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Attendant to join our team and help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort for our guests.

Position: Housekeeping Attendant
Location: Vermitas, Killur, Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, India
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Estate Manager

Position Overview:

As a Housekeeping Attendant, you will play a vital role in ensuring our guests enjoy a spotless, comfortable, and welcoming environment. You will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining guest rooms, common areas, and other facilities, while also assisting with the unique needs of the farm retreat such as helping with occasional events or sustainable farm activities related to environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guest Room Cleaning: Thoroughly clean and tidy guest rooms, including making beds, changing linens, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitising bathrooms.
  • Common Areas: Maintain cleanliness and order in all common areas, including lounge, dining areas, outdoor spaces, and farm facilities.
  • Laundry: Collect, wash, dry, fold, and distribute linens, towels, and other laundry items.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and restock housekeeping supplies and amenities, ensuring all items are well-stocked for guests.
  • Guest Assistance: Respond to guest requests for additional items or services promptly and courteously, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Farm-Specific Duties: Assist with light duties related to the farm, such as setting up for events, keeping outdoor areas tidy, and ensuring the cleanliness of farm-related facilities.
  • Safety and Cleanliness: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other staff members and farm personnel, to provide a seamless guest experience.
  • Special Projects: Assist with special cleaning projects, deep cleaning tasks, or other duties related to environmental stewardship.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or a similar role is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift moderate weights, and stand for extended periods.
  • Commitment to environment stewardship, adhering to minimising waste and resource optimisation practices.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and shifts as needed.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to embrace the unique environment of a farm.

Chef

We are seeking a passionate and creative Chef to lead our culinary program, utilising fresh, organic ingredients sourced directly from our farm and local producers.

Position Overview:

As the Chef at Vermitas, you will be the heart of our kitchen, crafting seasonal, sustainable, and delicious meals that reflect our commitment to farm-to-table dining. You will be responsible for menu creation, food preparation, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and sustainability. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with farmers, create inspired dishes from locally sourced ingredients, and provide guests with an unforgettable dining experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Development: Design and execute seasonal menus that highlight fresh, organic, and sustainably sourced ingredients, with a focus on farm-to-table cuisine.
  • Food Preparation: Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes in line with our culinary philosophy, ensuring consistency and excellence in every plate.
  • Sourcing and Procurement: Collaborate with the farm team to incorporate farm-grown produce, herbs and vegetables into the menu. Source additional ingredients from local, sustainable suppliers.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including food prep, inventory management, and cleanliness. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Guest Interaction: Engage with guests during dining experiences, sharing the story of the ingredients and the sustainable practices behind the dishes. Occasionally conduct cooking demonstrations or farm tours.
  • Sustainability Practices: Implement and maintain environmentally friendly kitchen practices, including waste reduction, composting, and energy-efficient cooking methods.
  • Special Events: Plan and execute special dining events, such as farm-to-table dinners, cooking classes, and seasonal celebrations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Chef, with a passion for sustainable and farm-to-table cuisine.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen.
  • Strong knowledge of seasonal cooking, organic farming, and sustainable food practices.
  • Creativity and innovation in menu planning and dish presentation.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a desire to engage and educate guests about sustainable dining.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and during peak seasons.
  • Commitment to sustainability and a passion for environmental stewardship.
