Vermitas is an estate owned by Ashir Thuyyath and Shalini Verma, who have spent the better part of their lives seeking adventures and livelihood in different countries across 3 continents. Life came a full circle when they decided to build a home in India, away from the hustle and bustle of urban living. The rubber and coffee estate is a thriving place.
Vermitas is their endeavor to put into practice everything that they have learnt while living in countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. They firmly believe that there is nothing absolute about time or place.
At Vermitas, they try to constantly apply the goodness that they have experienced everywhere. The estate represents their quest for a balance while seeking out the intrinsic value of life. Along the way, they are learning the joys of slow living. Yet there is nothing stagnant about their experiences with animal and plant life, the soil and the natural elements. Vermitas is everything about being unified with nature and learning from nature. Our products, processes and systems are bio-inspired.
The name 'Vermitas' was the Instagram handle of their son, Armaan Verma. Tired of getting tagged by his social media savvy parents, Armaan blocked his parents on Instagram and created a new handle 'Vermitas' . The name is a rejig of the surnames that he inherited from his mother and father. He then gave it a Latin twist because of his fascination for all things Roman. Eventually, his parents got wind of his secret handle, having received a tip off from informants recruited from the extended family. They later decided to name the estate Vermitas as sweet parental revenge. Armaan of course moved on to another Instagram handle.
